Better Together...

Humans are social creatures: we’ve evolved to live in tribes.  Even if some of us like company, and others prefer to be alone, we all need to feel we belong! Modern life has changed the way we connect with others – there’s more opportunities to connect with people digitally from our own home, but sometimes busy schedules can leave less time to spend in the company of those who make us feel good…

Having not been able to make a support group for months, I signed up for 2 last week; one organised by the best cake-baker in town and another, my local NATP listening circle.  Sharing stories, tea and some tasty food, I come away feeling connected, listened to, and a little more energised (partly through catching up with friends, partly through consuming lots of cake!)

This week, we want to give a shout out to some fantastic organisations that offer support groups for care-experienced families.  The National Association of Therapeutic Parents have listening circles throughout the country supporting the parents of children who have experienced trauma.  Adoption UK offer virtual and in-person meet-ups for care-experienced families.  There are many local groups with expertise and support for families too…. when we find our tribe, we are stronger and healthier together!
