All living things are shaped by their past. The events in our lives dictate which parts of us grow, and how. For this tree, when it felt the strong winds, it knew it needed to grow stronger branches, and deeper roots. The tree prioritised strength, out of necessity to survive. Its wonky and imperfect beauty, is testament to its fighting spirit, and its ability now to survive gale force winds without losing a single branch!
The trauma in my child’s early life meant energy was focused on developing the survival part of their brain… feeling and thinking parts have had to wait a bit longer before having their chance to shine. There is sadness and there is loss, and simultaneously there is an incredible hulk-like strength and beautiful spirit that has has been shaped, and will continue to be shaped by their story.
