It was great to meet parents, teachers and other professionals at Umbrella Derby & Derbyshire SEN Marketplace event on Friday. We had some great conversations about the needs of young people, particularly those who have experienced trauma. It’s always reassuring to hear that what we know works, and what we’re putting our efforts into developing, makes sense to other people. It was lovely to have such enthusiastic and positive feedback… So first of all, thank you so much to all of you who came and spent time chatting with us!

Through our conversations we heard of mental health organisations whose caseloads had doubled whilst budgets halved, parents not sleeping, and teachers working all hours: all these people are working so hard to find the right support for care-experienced children.

Growing Me wants to arm these amazing adults with the resources they need to do their jobs more easily. The trusted adults already in a child’s life, are often the best placed to help a child explore their life story. Growing Me empowers these adults – they already have the most important component – a trusting relationship with the child they support.
